Sigma Nu UCF: Rape Allegations and Investigation

The University of Central Florida (UCF) is currently dealing with a shocking case of sexual assault allegations against a student member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. The incident report, obtained by the authorities, reveals that a woman was raped at the fraternity house located on Napiers Circle in October.

According to the report, the victim woke up naked and in pain at her residence on October 3rd, with no recollection of the previous night's events. An investigation conducted by UCF Police Department (UCFPD) led them to suspect Joaquin 'Rod' Mendoza, a student member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.

The allegations were first reported in April, and the case was subsequently turned over to the State Attorney's Office for further action. However, no filing decision has been made yet, pending an investigation by the authorities.

Meanwhile, Sigma Nu Fraternity Executive Director Brad Beachem released a statement expressing concern over the allegations and announcing that Mendoza had been suspended from the fraternity pending further developments. The fraternity also conducted its own internal investigation into possible violations of their policies regarding alcohol use.

In a separate statement, UCF Office of Student Conduct found Mendoza guilty of sexual misconduct and imposed a one-year suspension from the university in addition to educational sanctions.

The victim has provided a detailed typed statement to UCFPD, recounting her experience at the Sigma Nu house that night. The report also mentions an empty condom wrapper and used condom on the ground, indicating that there may have been an attempt to cover up the incident.

Mendoza has declined to comment on the situation via Facebook, despite confirming he has an attorney. The investigation is ongoing, and it remains to be seen what action will be taken against Mendoza and Sigma Nu Fraternity.
